Every story starts somewhere.
HIlsher Graphics was created in 1971 but our story begins in 1939 with John Sr. and Beatrice Hilsher and the creation of Hilsher Printing.
OPENING OF HILSHER GRAPHICS
John "Jay" Hilsher Jr.
At the age of 13 Jay began apprenticing at Hilsher Printing to learn the family business. Eventually he was offered the Directorship of the Graphic Design program at the Williamsport Area Technical Institute (eventually becoming WACC and then PCT). While teaching Jay decided to create Hilsher Graphics in 1971 as a way to give his students on the job training. By 1975 Jay had merged Hilsher Printing and Hilsher Graphic together and left teaching to expand the company.
Jay's desire to grow the business was realized not only in size but also with the latest technologies. Jay's son, John Hilsher III, worked for Hilsher Graphics from day one. He joined the company full time after graduating from high school, eventually becoming our plant manager. Sally Hilsher started with Hilsher Graphics in 1978 as a secretary and bookkeeper. Sally's interest in typesetting spiraled upward later realizing the possibilities were endless. With growth came the need for more space and in 1993 Hilsher Graphics moved to it's newly renovated location at 1626 Riverside Drive in South Williamsport, PA.
